01 - In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream.
02 - Heat over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is steaming but not boiling, approximately 5 minutes.
03 - Stir in sugar and vanilla extract until fully dissolved.
04 - Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for additional flavor if desired.
05 - Pour the drink into mugs and serve warm or chill and serve over ice for a cold version.
