01 - Rinse the jasmine rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch for fluffy results.
02 - In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, coconut milk, water, salt, and sugar (if using). Stir everything together to incorporate the seasoning evenly.
03 - Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Watch closely to prevent overflowing.
04 - Reduce heat to low and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Simmer for 15 minutes, or until all liquid has been absorbed and rice is tender.
